Each club year we have a theme for the May (2025) monthly competition. As decided at this year’s summer picnic and awards ceremony, the chosen theme for this year’s May (2025) competition is Minimalistic Photography. Attached below as some accepted definitions of Minimalistic Photography.

Less is more: A guide to minimalist photography. Minimalist photography is about stripping a subject down to its most elegant essence. Create photos that cut through the clutter by emphasizing the essentials, including clean lines and empty spaces.
Minimalist photography focuses on simplicity and its artistic style can be encapsulated by the quote, “less is more.” Minimalist photographers achieve this effect by casting aside all the unnecessary components in creating their works
As the name suggests, it revolves around the concept of simplicity. It’s about eliminating the unnecessary, focusing on a single subject or element, and using negative space.
